# Smart Book > Smart Book is a bilingual ebook reader that shows the original text and its translation side by side, so you learn languages by reading the books and stories you love. Tap any word for an instant translation while reading — switch between Google Translate, DeepL, Reverso Context, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Yandex and more in a single tap. Free, available on iOS and Android, supporting ~100 languages. Developed by Stanislau Kurs (KursX). Smart Book turns every page into a language lesson. It is a dual-language / parallel-text reader for language learners: original and translation are shown together, every word is tappable for an instant translation and native-speaker audio, and unfamiliar words can be saved with their context to a personal dictionary for spaced-repetition review (export to Anki or ReWord). You can read from a built-in free library of bilingual stories, or load your own FB2, EPUB and TXT books and even import `.SRT` subtitles as parallel text. ## Key features - **Parallel / bilingual reading** — original text and translation side by side; read in two languages at once. - **Tap-to-translate** — long-tap any word, sentence, paragraph or whole chapter for an instant translation while reading. - **Multiple translation engines** — compare translations across Google Translate, DeepL, Reverso Context, Oxford, Yandex, Microsoft, Papago, LingvaNex and NLP; switch in one tap. - **AI in the reader** — ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini explain meaning, grammar, etymology, usage examples and synonyms; create custom AI prompts/actions; bring your own API key. - **Native-speaker pronunciation & TTS** — listen to words and paragraphs, AI voices, customizable voice/pronunciation sequences, and convert a chapter into an audio file. - **Personal dictionary** — save words with one click together with their context; mark words as learned; export/import; spaced repetition via Anki or ReWord. - **Your own books** — FB2, EPUB and TXT reader (incl. picture books); import `.srt` subtitles from any movie/video as a bilingual book; translate text shared from other apps. - **Free book library** — curated catalog of bilingual stories and articles in many languages, expanded regularly. - **Reading comfort** — Bionic Reading mode, custom fonts, offline mode/translation, in-book search, word-occurrence counter, swipe brightness control, home-screen book shortcuts. - **Free to use**, with optional paid features. ## Download - [Apple App Store (iOS)](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/smart-book/id1278697399): Smart Book for iPhone and iPad (iOS 16.4+). - [Google Play (Android)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kursx.smartbook): Smart Book for Android. - [Direct APK download](https://smart-book.net/apk): standalone Android APK. - [Huawei AppGallery](https://appgallery.huawei.com/#/app/C107646007): Smart Book for Huawei devices. - [RuStore](https://apps.rustore.ru/app/com.kursx.smartbook): Smart Book on the Russian RuStore. ## Site - [Home](https://smart-book.net/): overview, video, screenshots and description. ## Help & tutorials Short how-to guides are published as videos and posts across channels.
