"Theorie und Praxis des Generalstreiks in der modernen Arbeiterbewegung" by Elsbeth Georgi is a scientific publication written in the early 20th century. The book focuses on the concept, definitions, variations, and implications of the general strike and its role within the broader context of the labor movement. Georgi aims to explore the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of the general strike as a tool for the proletariat. The beginning of the work outlines the significance of the general strike in contemporary discussions within the labor movement and highlights the challenges of comprehensively studying this topic. Georgi emphasizes that the general strike has garnered widespread attention and is often referenced in various labor union meetings, socialist publications, and political discussions. She sets the stage for a detailed examination of the phenomenon, noting the need for the establishment of clear definitions and distinctions regarding general strikes and other forms of labor protests, including mass strikes and solidarity strikes.
