היסטוריה של התדרדרות ופלונטרו של האימפריה הרומית – כותר ב’" מאת אדוארד גיבבון היא יצירה היסטורית שנפרסמה בשנת 1781. כותר זה ממשיך את הרצף ההיסטורי המפורסם של גיבבון, העוקב אחר התהליך בו האימפריה הרומית עברה משיאה האימפריאלי לפלונטרו. היצירה, המשתרעת על פני חמישה-עשר מאות, בוחנת את עליית הנצרות למעמד של דת המדינה, את הפלישות הברבריות ואת אובדן הערכים האזרחיים שפגעו ביציבות האימפריה. נכתבה בסגנון פרוזה אובייקטיבי אך ביקורתי, והתיאוריה של גיבבון עוררה שאלות בנוגע לתפקידו של הנצרות בגורלה של רומה, ועדיין מזין דיונים בקרב מלומדים עד ימינו.
