دربارهٔ این کتاب
کتاب «تغییرات جانوران و گیاهان در حالت اهلی‌شدگی، جلد اول» اثر چارلز داروین، اثری دو جلدی است که در ژانویهٔ ۱۸۶۸ منتشر شد. این مطالعهٔ جامع، مشاهدات دقیقی دربارهٔ جانوران و گیاهان اهلی ارائه می‌دهد و بر سال‌ها آزمایش‌های داروین در زمینهٔ پرورش و مکاتبات او با طبیعت‌شناسان همکارش استوار است. این اثر همچنین نظریهٔ بحث‌برانگیز او دربارهٔ وراثت، موسوم به پنگنسیس، را معرفی می‌کند. این کتاب که طی چهار سال پس از «دربارهٔ خاستگاه گونه‌ها» نوشته شد، تلاشی از سوی داروین برای ارائهٔ شواهد و واقعیت‌های مفصل در پشتیبانی از نتایج تکاملی او بود، هرچند فرایند نگارش آن را فرساینده می‌یافت.
