“Lịch sử suy tàn và sụp đổ của Đế chế La Mã” của Edward Gibbon là một công trình lịch sử gồm sáu tập, được xuất bản trong khoảng từ năm 1776 đến năm 1788. Biên niên sử đồ sộ này trải dài từ năm 98 đến năm 1590, thuật lại quá trình từ thời kỳ đỉnh cao đến khi sụp đổ của Đế chế La Mã, sự trỗi dậy của Kitô giáo thời kỳ đầu với tư cách là quốc giáo, sự sụp đổ của Byzantium và sự vươn lên của những nhân vật như Thành Cát Tư Hãn.
