«تاریخ انحطاط و سقوط امپراتوری روم، جلد ۱۱» اثر ادوارد گیبون، اثری تاریخی است که بین سال‌های ۱۷۷۶ تا ۱۷۸۹ منتشر شد. این شاهکار عظیم شش‌جلدی، تمدن غرب را از اوج امپراتوری روم تا سقوط قسطنطنیه در سال ۱۴۵۳ دنبال می‌کند. گیبون با استفاده‌ای بی‌سابقه از منابع دست‌اول، رفتارها و تصمیم‌هایی را بررسی می‌کند که به زوال طولانی‌مدت روم انجامیدند. فصل‌های جنجالی او درباره نقش مسیحیت بحث‌های شدیدی برانگیختند، در حالی که لحن طعنه‌آمیز و بدبینانه‌اش به ویژگی شاخص تاریخ‌نگاری عصر روشنگری تبدیل شد.
