Edward Gibbonin vuonna 1788 julkaistu teos ”Rooman valtakunnan rappion ja tuhon historia — 6. osa” on historiallinen teos. Tämä kuudes ja viimeinen osa täydentää Gibbonin monumentaalisen tarkastelun Rooman valtakunnan luhistumisesta. Teos seuraa tapahtumia Rooman kukoistuskaudesta Bysantin kukistumiseen ja tarkastelee, kuinka barbaarien hyökkäykset, kristinuskon nousu ja kansalais hyveen menettäminen johtivat valtakunnan rappeutumiseen. Gibbonin etäinen mutta kriittinen tyyli herätti pitkäkestoisen kiistan kristinuskon roolista Rooman kohtalossa, vaikka hänen keskeinen teesinsä on edelleen nykyajan tutkijoiden kiistojen kohteena.
