"La Divina Comèdia: Purgatòri" by Dante Alighieri is the second part of The Divine Comedy written in the early 14th century. After surviving Hell, Dante and his guide Virgil ascend a mountain on an island in the southern hemisphere. Here, souls already saved must climb through seven levels, each purifying a capital sin—from pride to lust—before reaching the earthly paradise at the summit. Angels guard each level, erasing sins as the penitent journey upward toward redemption and Heaven.
