«The Dunwich Horror» av H. P. Lovecraft er en kortroman innen kosmisk skrekk, skrevet i 1928. I den forfalne landsbyen Dunwich i Massachusetts vokser Wilbur Whateley i et unaturlig tempo, hjulpet av sin bestefar, som er trollmann, i mørke ritualer knyttet til vesenet Yog-Sothoth. Da en monstrøs, usynlig tilstedeværelse slipper ut fra våningshuset deres og sprer skrekk på landsbygda, må tre professorer fra Miskatonic University konfrontere en overjordisk skrekk som trosser menneskelig fatteevne. Denne fortellingen om forbudt kunnskap og kosmisk skrekk regnes som en sentral fortelling i Cthulhu-mytologien.
